This month we celebrate the 86th year of instruction in the Sewanhaka Central High School District. Before our students arrived on September 3rd, our professional staff returned on August 27th for our Opening Day Program, during which we welcomed new and returning faculty and staff. We also honored our Teachers of the Year and employees who have been with the District for 25 years or more.
The Sewanhaka Central High School District would like to invite members of the community to attend ribbon-cutting ceremonies to commemorate the completed renovations of the Elmont Memorial High School, Floral Park Memorial High School, H. Frank Carey High School, New Hyde Park Memorial High School and Sewanhaka High School athletic fields.
The Board of Education recognizes that on occasion, students may forget to bring money for meals to school. To ensure that each student has the ability to purchase lunch, the Board will allow students who may forget money for meals to “charge” the cost of meals to be paid back at a later date, subject to the terms established in Board Policy 5154A.
A number of important changes are being planned for implementation next fall with the incoming 7th grade. These changes will assist students with the transition from elementary to secondary school, and will better prepare more students to access advanced level opportuntities when they get to high school.
