Black History Month at Sewanhaka

The Sewanhaka High School Shared Decision Making Committee’s theme for this school year is “We are all pieces to one puzzle.”

Seventh-graders in Ms. Diane Ventura’s social studies classes decided to act on that theme and create a display for Black History Month. Seventh-grader Abigail Percy developed the idea, which was helped along by student Jasmine Rivera and her mother, who cut out the puzzle pieces. Students designed each puzzle piece with a different individual in mind to celebrate Black History Month. The end result is a powerful presentation that can be seen outside Ms. Ventura’s classroom.
